How did we get here? Let us tell you our story.

Career Changes and Looking for a Better Way

For years, Leah was working in financial services until she realized this fast-paced industry was not right for her. Courageously making a transition to a completely different career, she became a massage therapist and learned the value of a holistic approach to health. Eventually, this newfound appreciation led her to attend a graduate program and become qualified as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

To be able to serve her clients better, she decided to open her own private counseling practice. However, she quickly came to see that navigating the world of insurance panels, complex billing structures, and administrative tasks was beyond her scope of knowledge.

In the meantime, Michael had spent years working in business administration. He was always looking for ways to optimize processes, simplify day-to-day operations, and make life easier for his professional clients.

When Leah opened her practice, he saw first hand just how difficult it was for private practice owners to balance time with their patients and business management responsibilities. Naturally, he began to wonder what he could do to help out Leah and find a better way.

The Beginnings of a Vision

In order to spend more time with her clients, Leah started working with an outside vendor to handle her billing services. In time, however, she became irritated by the lack of clarity, inconsistent communication, and errors on her vendor’s end.

Despite her years of working with clients in the mental health field, she was not prepared to handle the unique challenges that came along with running a private practice. Not about to throw in the towel, though, Leah accepted that she would have to learn along the way. Her diligent efforts bore fruit; her practice was sustainable, and her clients were satisfied. But eventually, she grew tired of attending to the billing headaches and the growing pains that came with running a business.

One day, she came home from work—exasperated from dealing with her vendor—and complained, “A monkey could do better!”

That was our moment of epiphany.

We suddenly realized that, perhaps, we could be the ones to step in and help private practice owners manage billing, advertising, and other crucial responsibilities. Family and friends were already asking Leah for advice on private practice management. By combining our unique skillsets, we could provide a range of valuable services.

And so, Reliant Practice was born.
